If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walkthrough guide on how to place your qualifying bets.
We need our qualifying bet to lose, so that we are eligible for the free bet refund. With this in mind, it makes sense to bet on a market that is less likely to win, such as one with longer odds. Having looked at the odds available I’ve opted to place my in-play qualifying bet on Bubba Watson winning the 2015 Phoenix Open.
Place £10.00 on Bubba Watson @ 9.00 = Potential profit of £80.00
Lay £10.29 on Bubba Watson @ 8.80 = Potential liability of £80.26
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the two outcomes…
Bubba Watson wins +£80.00 – £80.26 = £0.26 loss
Bubba Watson doesn’t win -£10.00 + £9.77 + £8.00 (80% of £10.00 free bet) = £7.77 profit
So if Bubba Watson wins the 2015 Phoenix Open, we will make a small loss of £0.26. If he doesn’t win, we will make a nice profit of £7.77 on this offer.
If you’re not sure how to extract 80% of the £10.00 free bet, please see my Free Bet Strategy page for a walkthrough guide on how it should be done.
